چکیده
Methods From July 2010 to April 2013, 95 consecutive patients (mean age, 63 ± 20 years, mean LVEF, 50% ± 15 %), with severe mitral valve regurgitation ( ischemic 17%. PML-prolapse 7.3 %. AMLprolapse 2, 1%. PML and AML-Prolaps 6.3 %. Endocarditis 2.1 %. Barlow 1%. Cleft with AML+ PML Prolapse 11,5%. AML. Descaling 5, 2%.) underwent mitral valve repair. Anticipated length of loops was assessed with TEE or with a custom made caliper (Geister Medizintechnik) by measuring the distance between the top of papillary muscle and the cooptation zone of intact leaflets in the end systolic phase or in the arrested heart.

Real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography to predict artificial chordae length for mitral valve repair
BACKGROUND Artificial chordae replacement is an effective technique for mitral valve repair, however, it is difficult to accurately determine the length of artificial chordae. This study aimed to assess the reliability and accuracy of real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) to predict the length of artificial chordae preoperatively. METHODS From December 2008 to Dec...
متن کاملNeochordameter: A New Technology in Mitral Valve Repair
BACKGROUND Mitral valve repair has shown superior results compared to mitral valve replacement in patients with mitral valve prolapse. Using premeasured neochordae (the loop technique) has been proposed for both anterior and posterior leaflet repairs. However, there are two major problems that are usually experienced using this method. One is deciding the length of the neo-chordae, and the othe...

A 61-year-old patient with the diagnosis of acute heart failure based on severe mitral valve insufficiency due to chordae rupture was scheduled for surgery. Intraoperatively, a standard two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiogram (2D-TEE) examination, revealed severe mitral valve regurgitation due to a prolaps with chordal rupture and an echo dense structure in the pulmonary artery (PA). Bec...

We compared live/real time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (3D TEE) with real time two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (2D TEE) in the assessment of individual mitral valve (MV) segment/scallop prolapse and associated chordae rupture in 18 adult patients with a flail MV undergoing surgery for mitral regurgitation. 2D TEE was able to diagnose the prolapsing segmen...

The role of intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has increased tremendously since its first use in 1979. Today intraoperative TEE is a class I indication for surgical mitral valve reconstruction for evaluation of mitral valve pathology, graduation of mitral regurgitation and detection of potential risk factors as well as post-repair assessment. Real-time three-dimensional TEE o...
